Hometown: Vancouver, B.C.
I Attended McBride Elementary and Gladstone Secondary Schools. Following graduation from UBC in 1969 with a degree in Mathematics, I started a lengthy career 'messing about with computers' (in the vernacular of an illustrious relative, Kenneth Grahame).
Work..Work..Work
I spent a dozen years in London, Ontario working for London Life. It was in London that I met my dear wife Barb and where our son Michael was born.
In 1980 we joined the boom in Calgary, where I spent 6 years with Dome Petroleum. When the crash hit the oil industry, we cast about for greener fields. A choice between Regina and Auckland, New Zealand resulted in an adventure to the South Pacific where we joined my sister Nancy in Auckland. I spent a great 3.5 years working for KPMG Peat Marwick. While Auckland was a beautiful place to live, the draw of family and Canada brought us back to the Calgary area, where I went into business for myself.
I own Pinetree Consulting Ltd. and am a part owner and VP of CRISP Technologies Inc. in Calgary. Much of my work these days centres on Project Management, QA/QC, Business Continuity and Disaster Planning consulting and business analysis.
Play
I have a number of interest that keep me active. These include travel, sports, cooking, wine making, and geneology.
This year's highlight was a trip to Scotland for the Gathering of the Clans. An African photo safari is still in our plans, one of these years.
On the sports front, we are not curling this year due to continuing knee problems. Michael's retirement from the Canadian Luge Team marked a break from my sports organization work, which covered bowling, baseball, softball, hockey, soccer, curling and luge. I was lucky enough to attend the 1972 hockey series in Moscow. I have also been involved in Commonwealth Games and World Curling activities.
Various forebearers, including my father Jim have collected a great deal about our branch of the Grahame clan and I have added to that knowledge recently after joining the Clan Graham associations.
